Skrapar’s New Sports Facility: EU builds dreams!

The European Union has provided special support for strengthening the local government in Albania by improving social, economic, and environmental conditions. A concrete example of this support is the Municipality of Skrapar, which benefited from the “EU for Municipalities” grant scheme to make an important investment in constructing a sports environment at the “Zylyftar Veleshnja” school. This investment improves the educational infrastructure and contributes to the development of the local community. The construction of the sports area at “Zylyftar Veleshnja” school significantly improves student educational conditions. Through this project, students now have access to a modern and well-equipped space for sports activities, which positively affects their health and well-being. Physical activities are important for children’s overall development, and this investment helps create a safe and stimulating environment to develop their physical and social skills.

For the realization of this investment, the total budget used is 55,550 euros, of which 50,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union. 725 youngsters and young talents in sports are the direct beneficiaries of the construction of the sports environment at the “Zylyftar Veleshnja” school. The new sports and educational space, as well as the establishment of the sports academy and the opening of a community center, are essential and long-awaited benefits for Skrapari’s youngsters.

The municipality of Skrapar has welcomed the investment in the construction and operation of the sporting environment for youth, which, according to the mayor, Adriatik Mema, is one of the institution’s top goals.

“Such projects not only improve the quality of physical education classes but also provide an opportunity for students and youngsters to use them, giving them a community profile. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the “EU for Municipalities” project for supporting this modest but significant project as well as for developing a partnership between the “EU for Municipalities” project and the Skrapar Municipality,” says Skrapar Mayor Adriatik Mema.

The primary objective of the “Zylyftar Veleshnja” school’s revamped premises is to foster the growth of basketball. While it remains accessible to students, it also functions as a hub for the youth in the “Estref Caka” neighbourhood. The underlying aim of this project is to enhance the abilities of youngsters, enabling them to engage in sports activities that promote a healthier lifestyle within the Skrapar Municipality.
